About Yalari

Yalari was founded by Waverley Stanley and his wife, Llew Mullins, with a simple vision: to create more opportunities for Indigenous children from regional and remote Australia through education.

Waverley’s journey began in 1979 when he was awarded a scholarship to attend Toowoomba Grammar School. He went on to become the first Indigenous student in the school’s 100-year history to complete Year 12 and be appointed as Prefect.
Inspired by that experience, Waverley and Llew established Yalari to help more young Indigenous Australians access the same opportunity. Today, Yalari’s Rosemary Bishop Indigenous Education Scholarships provide approximately 60 students each year with full tuition and boarding at some of Australia’s leading schools.

Supported by individuals, businesses and foundations across the country, Yalari continues to help create opportunities for students through scholarships, student support and pathways beyond secondary education.
